Story

Ghana Good Fermented Main Crop Cocoa is the chief agricultural export of Ghana, it’s main cash crop. Ghana is the second largest cocoa exporter in the world after the Ivory Coast. Cocoa production takes place in the forested areas of Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo, Central Region, Eastern Region, Western Region, and Volta. Cocoa has a longer production cycle compared to other tropical crops. A new cocoa tree takes 5 years to begin producing pods and can take 10-15 years for the tree to reach its full bearing potential. Harvesting the main crop cocoa begins in October, with a smaller mid-crop cycle beginning in July.
