The producer of this Nicaragua SHG EP coffee, Promotora de Desarollo Cooperativa de las Segovias (PRODECOOP) is a certified cooperative organization made up of over 2,300 individual producers. These small hold farmers consist of 27% women, 50% are certified organic and 100% certified fair trade. The majority of the members are located in the northern 3 departments of: Estelí, Madriz and Nueva Segovias. Most farms growing altitude range from 1,200 – 1,500 meters above sea level, and farmers work with the varietals Caturra & Bourbon. SHG - Strictly High Grown coffee is harvested at high altitudes, which allows the coffee cherries to mature slowly resulting in a denser and higher quality green coffee beans. EP - Stands for European Preparation, an additional sorting to ensure only the finest green coffee beans are exported.
