Story

Honduras Decaf coffee beans come from the Copan region, harvested by smallholder farmers from Heirloom Cultivars. These high altitude washed coffee beans have natural chocolate, caramel, and raisin flavors. Methylene chloride process is a solvent used in methods of direct decaffeination to maintain coffee flavor better than other processes. The coffee beans are soaked in hot water to extract the caffeine and then removed. The methylene chloride solvent is added to the water to bond with the caffeine, then skimmed away, and the beans are returned to reabsorb the liquid. This process removes between 96% - 97% of caffeine from coffee beans.
