Costa Rica is roughly the size of West Virginia and exported 1.6 million 60KG bags of coffee from October 2012 to June 2013. It is located in Central America between Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Like Honduras, Costa Rica falls within the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn giving it an ideal climate for coffee farming. Their coffee exporters do a good job of recollecting the coffee cherry helping them keep traceability on the final product.

The coffee of Costa Rica is known for being full-bodied and robust. It was brought to the country in the 18th century, making it the first to have a coffee industry in Central America. It has a fresh acidity and a fruity taste with hints of citrus, apricot and other tropical fruits. It has a sweetness that is like brown sugar and its acidic taste is due to being grown at high altitudes. There are a variety of coffees native to Costa Rica, which include the Tarrazu coffee, Monte Crisol, Alajuela and Cartago.
